The OSG HP245-1969 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in steel and cast iron. It features a 5.00 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for self-centering entry, and a multi-layer EgiAs proprietary coating that extends tool life under demanding cutting conditions. The overall length is 82.00 mm (3.2283 inches), with a 44.00 mm (1.7323 inches) flute length and a 6 mm (0.4688 inches) straight cylindrical shank. This drill is designed for production-level applications where hole accuracy and tool longevity are priorities.
The HP245-1969 is suited for blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, and general drilling into steel and cast iron workpieces in machining and fabrication environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in deeper cuts. With a right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry, it is compatible with standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals requiring tight diameter tolerances in production runs.
Designed for drilling steel and cast iron workpieces; compatible with standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and lathes accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suited for applications within the HP245 Series performance range of 5.00 mm to 6.00 mm drill diameters.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Ensure the drill shank is fully seated and securely clamped in a collet or chuck rated for the shank diameter before operation. Inspect the cutting edge and coating for damage before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to chipping from improper handling. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material.
