The OSG HP243-2677 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. At 6.80 mm in diameter with a 140-degree point angle, this bit delivers a self-centering entry and reduced thrust, making it well-suited for precision hole-making in demanding production environments. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. With a compact 79.00 mm overall length and a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 8.00 mm in diameter, it fits standard toolholders and drill chucks used in machine tool setups. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool and die professionals, and CNC operators.
The HP243-2677 is built for short-hole drilling applications where a stub-length drill is preferred for rigidity and accuracy. The screw machine length format reduces overhang and deflection, improving hole location and surface finish. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes. Primary workpiece materials include carbon steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute design support efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The R-thinned point reduces cutting force at entry and improves centering without a pilot operation.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and similar machine tool setups where straight-cylindrical shank toolholders or drill chucks are used. Optimized for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces per OSG Series HP243 specifications.
This drill bit is installed by machinists or CNC operators and does not require field wiring or plumbing. Before changing tooling, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per your shop safety program. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the chuck or toolholder to the recommended grip depth before tightening. Avoid using damaged or worn toolholders that can cause runout and premature bit failure.
