The OSG HP243-2008 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. Built from solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and heat resistance needed for demanding production environments. The 140-degree drill point angle promotes self-centering and reduces thrust when entering steel and cast iron. At 0.2008 inches (5.10 mm) in diameter, the bit features a spiral flute with R-thinned web and tapered web configuration for improved chip evacuation and reduced walk. A straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. The screw machine length format keeps the setup compact and maximizes rigidity at the spindle.
This bit is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines operating on steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio suits through-hole and blind-hole drilling in production shop environments. The coated finish extends tool life in high-cycle applications where uncoated carbide would wear prematurely. It is a single-piece, individually packaged unit suited for toolroom restocking or direct line-side use. Machinists and CNC operators working on ferrous parts at moderate-to-high feed rates will find the HP243 series a reliable workhorse drill.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG HP243 series covering the 0.2000 to 0.2500 decimal inch diameter range.
Install and remove only with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck before tightening to the tool-holding system manufacturer's specification. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material to manage heat buildup, as this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edges and web for chipping before each use — carbide is brittle and a visibly damaged edge should be replaced rather than reground without proper carbide grinding equipment.
