The OSG HP243-1772 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It carries a 0.1772-inch (4.50 mm) diameter with a 140-degree split point and an R-thinned web for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 66.00 mm. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute, this bit is suited for production drilling environments where tool life and hole quality in ferrous materials are the priority. Licensed machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users.
This bit is built for screw machine and short-hole drilling applications in ferrous workpieces, including mild steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 24.00 mm flute length make it appropriate for shallow to moderate-depth holes in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and automatic screw machines. The coated solid carbide construction handles the heat and abrasion common in high-cycle production runs. It fits standard toolholders accepting a 6.00 mm straight shank.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Falls within the HP243 series diameter range of 0.1500 to 0.2000 inches (3.50 to 5.00 mm). Compatible with toolholders accepting a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth before running at speed. Do not exceed the drill manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
