The OSG HP243-1260 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. Built from solid carbide and finished with an EgiAs coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and thermal resistance in demanding production environments. The 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry reduces thrust forces and improves centering accuracy. At 3.20 mm in diameter and 62 mm overall length, it fits screw machine and short-reach drilling applications where rigidity and precision are priorities. It is suited for machinists, tool and die technicians, and CNC operators working in metal fabrication and production machining.
This bit is designed for screw machine length drilling operations in ferrous workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems. Its compact overall length supports use in tight setups and gang drilling fixtures common in production shops. The right-hand spiral flute promotes efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications across both manual and CNC machine tools.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Fits standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the OSG HP243 series, covering a drill bit size range of 0.1000 to 0.1500 decimal inch.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and bit diameter before operation. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed adjustments, or re-chucking with debris in the collet bore. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
