The OSG 9599125 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding production and maintenance environments. Built from XPM high-speed steel with a coated finish, it measures 0.4921 inches (12.50 mm) in diameter and delivers tight tolerance drilling with a diameter tolerance of +0 to -0.027 mm. The 130-degree split point and R-thinned web reduce thrust and improve centering on hard materials. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance mechanics are the primary users of this bit in production drilling operations.
The 9599125 is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces. Its screw machine length profile — shorter than a jobber bit — provides added rigidity and improved accuracy in tight setups, turret lathes, screw machines, and drill press fixtures. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes without coolant-through capability, making it appropriate for flood coolant or dry cutting setups depending on material and feed rate.
Designed as a high-performance replacement drill bit for use with standard drill chucks, collet systems, and turret toolholders accepting a 12.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy.
Installation and operation of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or industrial maintenance personnel familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing the bit. Seat the straight shank fully and evenly in the chuck or collet to prevent runout. Follow applicable machine manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the target workpiece material — do not exceed rated speeds for HSS tooling.
