The OSG 9599065 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal cutting in production and maintenance machining environments. Built from XPM high-speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 0.2559-inch (6.50 mm) diameter, a 130-degree drill point angle, and a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The shorter screw machine length body improves rigidity and reduces deflection compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for high-volume drilling operations where precision and tool life are priorities. Installation and use are handled by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with drill presses, CNC machining centers, or manual lathes.
This bit is engineered for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and R-thinned web reduce cutting resistance and improve chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank with an 8.00 mm (0.3150-inch) diameter seats securely in standard collets and drill chucks. It is part of the OSG Series 1900 product line, aimed at high-performance production drilling applications in both shop and field settings.
Designed as a high-performance replacement or production drill bit for applications involving steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and nickel alloy workpieces, with a decimal inch size range of 0.2500 to 0.3000 inches and a metric size range of 6.50 to 8.00 mm.
This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians using drill presses, CNC machining centers, or lathes equipped with compatible chucks or collets rated for the 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable tolerance before drilling. Do not exceed the rated speed and feed parameters for the workpiece material. Disconnect and lock out power to the machine before changing tooling.
