The OSG 91400611 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built on OSG Series 9140, it features a 0.2362 inch cutting diameter, a 0.5118 inch length of cut, and a six-flute configuration with a 45-degree spiral helix angle. The micrograin carbide substrate and EXO coating work together to extend tool life and support higher feed rates in demanding cutting conditions. Center-cutting geometry allows for plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. This tool is sized for CNC machining centers and milling machines running finish and semi-finish passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are the priority.
The 91400611 is suited to high-speed milling applications in job shops, production machining, and toolroom environments. The 6-flute design supports higher feed rates compared to 4-flute equivalents in finishing scenarios where chip load per tooth is reduced. The regular-length body and matched shank diameter of 0.2362 inches make it a direct fit for standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction follow conventional milling configurations. Typical materials include alloy steels, tool steels, hardened steels, and similar workpiece materials where micrograin carbide and EXO coating provide a performance advantage.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide end mill with a 0.2362 inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet systems, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling configured for 6 mm or 0.2362 inch bore sizes.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle powered down and the machine in a safe, locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Ensure the collet or holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the correct gauge-line depth. Verify runout after clamping, as excessive runout reduces tool life and surface finish quality on 6-flute tools. Feeds, speeds, and depth of cut should be set according to the workpiece material and machine rigidity before starting the cut.
