The OSG 91100611 is a solid carbide ball end mill engineered for high-performance milling in hardened steels and difficult-to-machine materials. Carrying the Exocarbmax designation, it is purpose-built for machining hardened steels over 55 Rc, where tool integrity and edge retention are critical. The 6 mm (0.2362 inches) cutting diameter pairs with a 30-degree medium helix and a TiAlN-based WXS PVD coating that resists heat and wear at elevated cutting speeds. The ultra-fine micrograin carbide substrate supports the rigidity needed for both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool, reducing changeover time in production environments.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling operations in job shops, tool and die, mold making, and precision machining environments where hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium are common workpiece materials. The stub-length profile keeps deflection minimal when reaching into shallow pockets or finishing contoured surfaces. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard collet chucks without modification. It is a single-end tool, so it is replaced rather than reground when worn.
Designed for use in standard CNC milling machines accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and hard materials (ISO P, K, H); secondary materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO M, S).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the shank in a clean, undamaged collet chuck torqued to the machine manufacturer specification before starting the spindle. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality on hardened materials. Do not use this tool as a drill; plunge entry at a ramp angle appropriate for the workpiece material.
