The OSG 88300309 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling applications. It features a 5/16-inch diameter cutting edge with a 3/4-inch length of cut and a 3-flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation at higher feed rates. The variable helix design reduces harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish and tool life. A DLC-IGUSS coating provides enhanced hardness and lubricity, making this end mill well-suited for demanding machining conditions. Micrograin carbide construction supports cutting rigidity and edge retention across a range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, machining centers, and CNC setups requiring a compact, short-reach cutting tool. The 5/16-inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter for straightforward toolholder fitment. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction follow standard milling conventions. With centercutting capability, it can be used for plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. It is typically installed and operated by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC programmers in metalworking and precision manufacturing environments.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill with a 5/16-inch shank, compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders sized for 5/16-inch shank diameters in CNC and manual milling setups.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine power is off before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended grip length and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines for RPM and feed rate based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
