The OSG 8694800 is a taper length twist drill bit engineered for demanding hole-making applications where standard-length tooling falls short. Built from solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for high-cycle production environments and hard or abrasive workpiece materials. The drill features a 140-degree split point geometry combined with X-Thinned web design to reduce thrust force and improve self-centering at entry. An EgiAs coating provides surface hardness and lubricity that extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous cutting. Through-tool coolant capability allows high-pressure coolant delivery directly to the cutting edge for deep-hole operations. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in precision manufacturing settings.
The OSG 8694800 is suited for deep-hole drilling operations in machining centers, CNC mills, and drill presses where an extended flute length is required to reach part depth without toolholder interference. The 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it a practical choice for applications such as manifold bodies, hydraulic blocks, and structural components requiring straight, clean through-holes. The straight shank mounts directly into standard ER collets, drill chucks, or hydraulic toolholders compatible with 8.00 mm shank diameters.
Designed for use in standard 8.00 mm straight-shank toolholders including ER collet chucks, drill chucks, and hydraulic chucks on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses. Part of OSG Series 6520.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Verify collet or chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance before operation, as excessive runout accelerates carbide tool wear and can cause breakage. When using through-coolant, confirm the toolholder and spindle coolant circuit are rated for the intended pressure before engaging the coolant system.
