The OSG 8694700 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built on OSG Series 6520, this bit features a 140-degree drill point angle, right-hand spiral flute geometry, and a straight shank with a 7.00 mm (0.2756 inch) diameter. The EgiAs coating provides surface protection suited for high-performance cutting environments. With an 8xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and X-Thinned web construction, this bit delivers improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust force at the cutting tip. Coolant-through capability supports through-spindle coolant delivery for deep-hole drilling operations.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers and precision drilling setups where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required. The solid carbide construction makes it well-suited for harder workpiece materials and higher cutting speeds compared to high-speed steel alternatives. The taper length configuration provides additional reach beyond standard jobber-length bits. It is used by machinists and toolroom technicians in manufacturing, aerospace, mold-and-die, and general metalworking environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit cutting tool for CNC drilling setups requiring a 7.00 mm straight-shank solid carbide taper length drill bit, Series 6520 specification.
This drill bit is installed and serviced by machinists or toolroom technicians using appropriate collet or chuck toolholding systems rated for the 7.00 mm shank diameter. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the bit. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and compatible with the machine spindle before enabling through-spindle coolant. Always power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling, following shop safety and machine manufacturer procedures.
