The OSG 8693100 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It features an 11.00 mm diameter, a 140-degree R-thinned point for improved self-centering and reduced thrust, and an EgiAs coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard materials. Overall length is 146.00 mm with an 88.00 mm flute length, giving a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited to moderate-depth hole-making. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders without adapters. This drill is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working on production or job-shop equipment.
The OSG 8693100 is designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys — primary workpiece material codes P, K, S, and H. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, and self-centering entry cuts where point geometry and coating performance are critical. Coolant-through capability supports higher feed rates and improved chip evacuation in CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with internal coolant delivery. The 5xD flute ratio makes it well suited to through-holes and moderate blind-hole depths without pecking cycles in most steel and cast iron applications.
Suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines with straight-bore chucks or ER collet systems accepting an 11.00 mm shank diameter. Appropriate for workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys as noted in OSG Series 6510 specifications.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and spindle at a full stop. Seat the shank fully in the collet or chuck and torque the retention device to the machine or toolholder manufacturer's specification before resuming operation. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and delivering adequate flow before running at full feed rates. Proper speeds and feeds for the workpiece material should be confirmed against OSG Series 6510 cutting data — do not apply generic HSS speeds to carbide tooling.
