The OSG 8693000 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. It carries a 10 mm diameter with a 140-degree split point and an R-thinned web, which reduces thrust and promotes self-centering at the entry point. The EgiAs coating improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during aggressive cutting cycles. Overall length is 136 mm with an 80 mm flute length, giving it a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for moderate-depth hole applications. A straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks or collet toolholders. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC setup technicians are the primary users.
This bit is rated for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy — material codes P, K, S, and H. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, and self-centering entry in production environments where coolant-through delivery is available. The 2-flute spiral configuration with a regular helix handles chip evacuation in these materials without packing. It is part of OSG Series 6510, a line positioned for high-performance metal cutting on CNC machining centers and drill presses running coolant.

Install in a clean, properly sized collet or drill chuck and verify runout before beginning a production run, as carbide is sensitive to lateral loading from excessive runout. Engage coolant-through flow before the tool contacts the workpiece to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when drilling titanium or hardened steel, as carbide tools require rigid setups with minimal vibration. Do not use this bit in hammer-drill or impact-driver mode.
