The OSG 8692660 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding production and maintenance applications. It features a 6.60 mm (0.2598 inch) cutting diameter with a 140-degree split point geometry and an EgiAs coating for extended tool life and reduced friction. The overall length is 109.00 mm with a 53.00 mm flute length, providing a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suited for deeper drilling passes. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management in high-speed operations. This drill is installed and used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals working with CNC or manual drilling equipment.
This jobber drill is suited for use in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance repair operations where tight-tolerance holes are required. The right-hand spiral flute design and X-thinned web promote efficient cutting and reduced thrust force. The 7.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank provides secure seating in standard drill chucks and collet holders. It is appropriate for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a carbide substrate and EgiAs coating deliver performance advantages over high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber drill compatible with standard drill chucks, collet holders, and toolholders accepting a 7.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank across CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and in a locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout within acceptable tolerance for the application. Coolant-through setups require confirmation that the spindle and toolholder supply ports align with the drill's internal coolant channels. Consult the machine manufacturer's feed and speed recommendations for carbide tooling before setting cutting parameters.
