The OSG 8692450 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 4.5 mm in diameter with an overall length of 95 mm and a flute length of 41 mm. The 140-degree point angle and R-thinned web geometry promote accurate self-centering and reduce thrust force at entry. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat dissipation, making this bit suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality are critical. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and users of this bit.
This bit is engineered for drilling into steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys — material codes P, K, S, and H. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports blind hole and cross-hole operations as well as standard through drilling. The coolant-through design channels cutting fluid directly to the tip, making it effective in CNC machining centers and drill presses where internal coolant delivery is available. The straight-cylindrical shank at 5 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders.
The OSG 8692450 is compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys (material codes P, K, S, and H). It fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 5 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for blind hole, cross-hole, drilling, and self-centering tool applications in the 4.00 mm to 5.00 mm drill size range.
This bit is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in machine shop environments. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or chuck and confirm runout before beginning a cut. When using the coolant-through feature, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate meet the machine tool manufacturer specifications before operation.
