The OSG 8692340 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 3.4 mm diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and an EgiAs coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard-material conditions. The R-thinned point promotes self-centering and reduces thrust force at entry. With an overall length of 86 mm and a flute length of 31 mm, this bit is sized for standard jobber-reach drilling. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat control in blind-hole and cross-hole work. A straight-cylindrical shank at 4.00 mm fits standard drill chucks and collets. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision sheet-metal shops are the primary installers of this tooling.
This drill bit is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys, corresponding to material codes P, K, S, and H. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross-hole operations, standard through-drilling, and self-centering entry work. The regular spiral flute geometry and 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio support chip flow in both manual and CNC setups across light and heavy production environments.
Designed for use with steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys (material codes P, K, S, H) in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual drilling setups that accept a 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of OSG Series 6510.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Verify that the chuck or collet matches the 4.00 mm shank diameter before securing. When using coolant-through capability, confirm that the machine spindle and toolholder support internal coolant delivery before operation. Inspect the cutting edge and coating condition before each use and replace the bit if chipping or coating breakdown is observed.
