The OSG 8691030 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production and machining environments. Built to Series 6500 standards, this stub-length bit features a 140-degree split point and an EgiAs coating that extends tool life in abrasive and hard materials. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the X-thinned web reduces thrust load at the cutting edge. At 0.4055 inches (10.30 mm) in diameter, it is sized for precision hole-making in metal fabrication, CNC machining, and screw machine operations. Coolant-through capability makes it suitable for high-speed production drilling where heat management is critical.
This drill bit is used in CNC machining centers, screw machines, and manual drill presses across metal fabrication, automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing applications. The stub flute length provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for drilling in harder materials where deflection control matters. It is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production drill bit for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses accepting a straight-cylindrical shank with an 11.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with cutting tool setup and workholding practices. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning a cut. Engage the coolant-through circuit before initiating the cut to prevent thermal damage to the carbide substrate. Carbide tooling is brittle and should never be used in setups with excessive vibration or unsupported workpieces.
