Built to Series 6500 standards, it features a 9.6 mm (0.3780 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree split point, and an R-thinned web for reduced thrust and improved chip evacuation. The overall length is 106 mm (4.1732 inches) with a 48 mm flute length and a 10 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Coolant-through capability supports consistent performance at elevated cutting speeds. The 8690960 is suited for drilling steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloys. Install and remove drill bits only with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck before tightening to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify coolant lines are clear and flow is confirmed before initiating a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide is brittle and prone to edge damage if dropped or improperly stored.
