The OSG 8690650 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide with a coated finish, it runs a right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute configuration. The 140-degree split point and R-thinned web reduce thrust and improve centering without a pilot hole. At 6.50 mm (0.2559 inches) in diameter, this bit ships ready for production-line or tool-room use. Coolant-through capability supports extended tool life in interrupted cuts and deep-hole operations. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-room professionals working with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes.
This drill bit is suited for through-coolant drilling operations in steel, alloy steel, cast iron, titanium, and titanium alloy workpieces. The screw machine length (3xD flute-to-diameter ratio) provides rigidity in short-reach setups and is a common choice for production drilling where tool deflection must be minimized. The straight-cylindrical shank at 7.00 mm diameter seats cleanly in standard collets and drill chucks. OSG Series 6500 bits are positioned in the high-performance tier, making them appropriate for shops running tight tolerances and high cycle counts.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully de-energized and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the collet or chuck before torquing the holder. Verify coolant-through lines are clear and flow is confirmed before running the first cycle. Inspect the cutting edges and point geometry before use; solid carbide tips are brittle and should not be dropped or subjected to impact.
