The OSG 868-5000 is a double-cut carbide abrasive bur with a ball head profile designed for aggressive material removal in metalworking and fabrication applications. The uncoated carbide head measures 0.5 inches in cutting diameter and is mounted on a 1/4-inch shank with an overall length of 6 inches. This extended-length configuration provides reach into deep cavities, ports, and recessed areas that standard-length burs cannot access. At a rated maximum speed of 50,000 RPM, it delivers consistent stock removal across a wide range of hard and difficult-to-machine materials. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fabricators use this bur in die grinders and rotary tools for deburring, blending, and contouring work.
This bur is suited for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as other hard materials. The ball profile makes it particularly effective for creating and blending concave contours, undercutting, and working in confined spaces such as weld joints, casting flash lines, and die cavities. The double-cut tooth geometry produces a smoother finish than single-cut styles while still allowing fast material removal, making it appropriate for both rough and finish passes in production and repair environments.
Designed for use in die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/4-inch collet. Suitable for metalworking applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium per the SD-5L6 industry specification.
Installation is performed by machinists or fabricators using a die grinder or rotary tool equipped with a 1/4-inch collet. Ensure the tool is powered off and the collet is fully locked before inserting or removing the bur. Always verify that the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the bur maximum speed rating before operation, and wear appropriate eye and face protection during use. Do not exceed the rated 50,000 RPM maximum.
