The OSG 8673180 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in ferrous materials. It features a 140-degree point angle with R-thinned web geometry that improves self-centering and reduces thrust force at entry. The EgiAs coating extends tool life by resisting heat buildup and edge wear during sustained cutting operations. At 11.8 mm in diameter with a 118 mm overall length and 71 mm flute length, this bit fits standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where a straight-cylindrical shank is accepted. It is suited for production environments where tool consistency and hole quality are priorities.
This drill bit is designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron in blind hole, cross hole, and self-centering applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip clearance for moderate-depth holes without pecking cycles in many setups. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular spiral type make it compatible with standard right-hand spindle equipment. The Series 6310 designation identifies it within the OSG high-performance carbide drill family. It is a single-piece, solid carbide construction with no brazed tip, which delivers consistent rigidity in demanding cutting conditions across job shop and production floor use.
The OSG 8673180 is designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces, and fits machines accepting a 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material codes P, K, and H confirm suitability across these material groups. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit.
This bit is installed by machinists and tool-and-die technicians in CNC or manual drilling equipment. Confirm the collet or chuck is rated for a 12 mm straight shank and that the machine spindle is fully stopped before changing tooling. Diameter tolerance is +0 to -0.027 mm, so verify fit and runout with a dial indicator when hole precision is critical. Follow the machine manufacturer and OSG speed-and-feed recommendations for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature edge wear.
