The OSG 8672450 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. It carries a 140-degree point angle with an R-thinned web for improved self-centering and reduced thrust in hard materials. The EgiAs coating extends tool life by increasing surface hardness and reducing friction at the cutting edge. At 74.00 mm overall length with a 36.00 mm flute length and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this bit is engineered for blind hole, cross hole, and general drilling applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this bit in CNC and manual drilling operations on ferrous workpiece materials.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality in steel and cast iron is required. The 4.50 mm diameter (wire size 16, 0.1772 decimal inch) and 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet toolholding systems. It operates with a right-hand spiral flute and a tapered web configuration. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or mist lubrication is the standard approach for extended run cycles.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces per primary workpiece material codes P, K, and H. The 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for that shank diameter.
This drill bit is installed and serviced by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder and confirm runout before engaging the cut. No coolant-through feature is present; apply external flood coolant or cutting oil appropriate for the workpiece material to prevent premature edge wear. Inspect the cutting edge before each use and replace the bit if chipping or wear is observed at the point.
