The OSG 8672290 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and hard materials. It features a 140-degree point angle with X-thinned web geometry, which reduces thrust and improves self-centering on entry. The EgiAs coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat tolerance, extending tool life in demanding production environments. At 2.90 mm in diameter with a 66.00 mm overall length and a 20.00 mm flute length, this drill is suited for blind hole, cross hole, and through-hole drilling operations. It is part of OSG Series 6310 and is intended for use by machinists and tooling professionals in shop and manufacturing settings.
This drill is engineered for cutting steel, alloy steel, and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P, K, and H. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 4.00 mm in diameter, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth applications. Typical applications include precision blind holes, cross holes, and self-centering entry without a center drill when paired with appropriate fixturing and feed rates.
Designed for use in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces (ISO material groups P, K, and H). Fits standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 4.00 mm shank diameter. Part of the OSG Series 6310 drill line.
This drill should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a rigid, runout-minimized chuck or collet before operation. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to impact loading, interrupted cuts beyond the drill's design rating, or side loads. Verify spindle speed and feed rate against OSG Series 6310 application data for the specific workpiece material before cutting.
