The OSG 8670450 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. At 0.1772 inches (4.50 mm) in diameter, this bit features a 140-degree split point and R-thinned web for fast penetration and reduced walking on entry. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6.00 mm and seats securely in standard drill chucks or collet holders. With two spiral flutes in a regular helix configuration, it evacuates chips efficiently during short-hole and production drilling operations. This is a Series 6300 tool built for shop environments where cycle time and hole quality both matter. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and metalworking professionals are the primary users.
The OSG 8670450 is suited for screw machine operations, CNC drilling centers, and manual drill press work where a stubby, rigid drill is needed to hold tight tolerances in ferrous materials. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio keeps the tool compact for close-clearance setups. Primary workpiece materials include steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. The coated finish extends tool life in abrasive ferrous cutting applications. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so external flood or mist coolant is recommended when running at elevated surface speeds.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement drill bit for production drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 6300 lineup covering the 0.1500 to 0.2000 decimal inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with metalcutting drill setups. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before applying power, and verify runout before production use. External flood or mist coolant is strongly recommended since this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating drilling equipment.
