The OSG 8670400 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It measures 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm) in diameter with a 140-degree split point and an overall length of approximately 2.60 inches (66.00 mm). The two-flute spiral design paired with R-thinned web geometry reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This bit is installed by machinists, tool and die technicians, and metalworking professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This drill bit is built for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines where compact stub-length tooling is required for precision hole-making. The screw machine length body provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for tight-tolerance bores in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks sized for 4.00 mm shanks.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron workpieces; fits standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 4.00 mm straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine at a full stop and all power isolated. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should be secured with proper collet torque using a calibrated torque wrench to avoid shank slippage or micro-fractures. Inspect the cutting edges and point geometry before each use; discard any bit showing chipping or heel wear. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety codes when setting speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in ferrous materials.
