The OSG 8670260 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous metals and hard materials. It measures 0.1024 inches (2.60 mm) in diameter with a 140-degree split point angle and an X-thinned web for improved penetration and reduced thrust force. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard chucks and collets. At 62.00 mm overall length with a 14.00 mm flute length, this stub-length geometry provides added rigidity, making it well suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where deflection control matters. Two regular spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently without coolant-through capability.
This drill bit is built for production drilling in steel, alloy steel, and cast iron. Its screw machine length profile keeps overhang short, reducing vibration and improving hole accuracy in tight-tolerance work. It belongs to OSG Series 6300, a line engineered for high-performance cutting in difficult ferrous materials. The 2xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support consistent chip flow across a wide range of feed and speed conditions typical in job shop and production environments.
Designed for drilling steel, alloy steel, and cast iron as stated in OSG Series 6300 application guidelines. Drill bit diameter tolerance is +0 to -0.014 mm, suitable for applications requiring a decimal inch size within the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and power isolated from the machine. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the chuck or collet before tightening to the equipment manufacturer's specified torque range. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied according to the workpiece material requirements. Inspect the cutting edges and web condition before each use and replace when wear affects hole tolerance or surface finish.
