The OSG 86300309 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 40-degree helix angle with a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) finish that reduces friction and extends tool life. The three-flute configuration balances chip evacuation with cutting efficiency, making it well-suited for both slotting and peripheral milling. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, allowing plunge cutting where required. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and toolroom environments.
This end mill is built for use in milling machines and CNC machining centers where tight-tolerance work is required. The 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the cutting diameter for direct collet or end mill holder clamping. With a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, it runs with standard spindle rotation. The DLC coating makes it suitable for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where heat and abrasion resistance are critical. Overall length of 2-1/4 inches provides adequate reach for most standard fixturing setups.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems that accept a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque set screws or collet nuts per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality.
