The OSG 86300209 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) cutting diameter and a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) length of cut, this tool handles slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cutting environments. Three flutes with a 40-degree helix angle provide aggressive chip evacuation while maintaining a quality surface finish. Overall length is 2 inches with a matching 3/16 inch shank diameter for direct collet or end mill holder fitment. Installed by machinists and CNC operators.
This end mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills where a compact, short-reach tool is required. The single-end, center-cutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling passes. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard for use with conventional spindle rotation. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher surface footage and feeds compared to standard carbide grades, making it appropriate for hardened steels, stainless, aluminum, and similar materials where tool rigidity at small diameters is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill compatible with 3/16 inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout condition before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and torque the collet nut or set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use, as a damaged edge can cause tool failure or workpiece defects at small diameters.
