The OSG 8623242 is a Series 1750 extra length cobalt drill bit designed for demanding drilling applications in hard and tough materials. It measures 0.1654 inches (4.20 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 6.10 inches (155.00 mm) and a flute length of 3.86 inches (98.00 mm). The bit is manufactured from M6K-grade cobalt high-speed steel and carries a WXL coating for extended tool life and heat resistance. A 120-degree standard point, right-hand fast spiral flute geometry, and R-thinned web make this bit suited for production drilling where hole depth and precision matter. It ships individually and is aimed at machinists, tool and die workers, and maintenance professionals.
This extra length drill bit is well suited for applications requiring deeper hole penetration than standard-length bits allow, including production machining, fabrication shops, and maintenance repair operations. The straight-cylindrical shank fits conventional drill chucks on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld power tools. The fast spiral flute configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation in longer holes. The cobalt construction makes it appropriate for drilling alloy steels, stainless steel, cast iron, and other high-hardness workpiece materials where standard HSS bits lose edge retention.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for Series 1750 extra length drill bits with a 0.1654-inch straight-cylindrical shank; fits standard drill chucks sized for that shank diameter on drill presses, machining centers, and power drills.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck and verify concentricity before operation. Follow the machine manufacturer and OSG recommended speeds and feeds for cobalt drills in the specific workpiece material. Always wear appropriate eye and face protection when operating drilling equipment.
