The OSG 8623022 is a cobalt extra-length drill bit engineered for demanding drilling applications where standard-length bits fall short. Measuring 2.20 mm (0.0866 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 80.00 mm, it features a 15xD flute-to-diameter ratio that provides extended reach into deep-hole applications. The WXL finish enhances wear resistance and reduces heat buildup during high-speed drilling. A 120-degree drill point angle and R-thinned web geometry reduce thrust requirements at entry and improve centering accuracy. Two right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently throughout the cut. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators are the primary installers of this bit.
This bit is suited for drilling deep, small-diameter holes in ferrous and high-alloy materials including stainless steel, tool steel, and hardened alloys where cobalt construction outperforms standard high-speed steel. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders without adapters. At 0.0866 inches diameter and a 40.00 mm flute length, it is well matched to CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines requiring extended reach. The 2.00 mm shank diameter ensures consistent grip in precision toolholding systems. It ships individually and is ordered in single-unit quantities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for machines accepting straight-cylindrical shank drill bits at 2.00 mm shank diameter; compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems sized for this shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck or collet to the rated clamping torque for the toolholder in use. When drilling deep holes at 15xD, use appropriate cutting fluid and a pecking cycle to clear chips and prevent work-hardening of the bore wall.
