The OSG 8622816 is a taper length cobalt drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. Built from M-6K cobalt high-speed steel, it carries an overall length of 75.00 millimeters and a flute length of 26.00 millimeters, with a fractional diameter of 1/16 inch (0.0630 inches). The 120-degree standard point angle and fast spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup at the cutting edge. The WXL coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in abrasive materials. Right-hand cut with a straight shank, this bit is suited for use in standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers alike.
This bit is rated for a wide range of workpiece materials, including alloy steel, carbon steel, cast iron, die steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. The X-thinned web reduces thrust requirements, making it a practical choice for jobs where entry force must be controlled, such as thin-wall parts or interrupted cuts. It is commonly used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians who need reliable small-diameter performance in tough metals.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and CNC spindles accepting a 1/16 inch shank diameter. Suitable across the material applications listed by OSG for the Series 1750 line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance professionals familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the straight shank firmly in the chuck before operating to prevent runout. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to manage heat, as this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edge before each use; at 0.0630 inches diameter, even minor edge damage significantly affects hole quality.
