The OSG 8612843 is a jobber length drill bit sized to Letter Q (0.3320 inches) and built from powdered metal with a V coating for improved wear resistance and heat dissipation. It features a 130-degree drill point angle with standard point geometry and R-thinned, tapered web construction to reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation at the cutting edge. The spiral flute design runs in a regular helix with right-hand cut direction. Overall length is 125 mm with a flute length of 75 mm and a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 10 mm in diameter. This is a high-performance grade bit suited for production and maintenance drilling operations across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is appropriate for general-purpose hole-making in metal fabrication, mechanical maintenance, and industrial production environments. It fits standard drill chucks and is compatible with benchtop drill presses, floor-standing drill presses, and handheld power drills equipped with a suitable chuck size. The 0.3320-inch diameter makes it a direct substitute for Letter Q applications in layout and assembly work where decimal-inch precision is required. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling at higher feed rates or in harder stock.
Designed as a jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 10 mm shank diameter. Suitable for drill presses and handheld power drills in Letter Q decimal-inch drilling applications.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or trained technician familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before beginning a cut. Power down and de-energize the drilling machine before changing bits or adjusting workpiece fixturing. Apply cutting fluid or external coolant when working with harder materials, as this bit does not support coolant-through delivery.
