The OSG 8608085 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from powdered metal (XPM) with a TiCN V-coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced heat buildup when cutting through steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. The 130-degree split point with R-thinned tip and X-thinned web reduces thrust force and improves centering without a pilot hole. At 0.85 mm in diameter and 38.00 mm overall length, this bit is designed for precision small-diameter work in production and maintenance environments. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians.
This drill bit fits screw machine length applications where a shorter, stiffer tool reduces deflection and improves hole accuracy. It is suited for drilling steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials in both manual and CNC setups. The straight cylindrical shank measures 3.00 mm in diameter, making it compatible with standard collets and drill chucks in that size range. The regular spiral flute and tapered web configuration promote efficient chip evacuation in short-hole drilling scenarios.
Designed for use with standard collets and drill chucks accepting a 3.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. Part of the OSG Series 1900 screw machine length drill line.
This bit should be installed in a collet or drill chuck matched to the 3.00 mm shank diameter and tightened securely before operation. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material, noting this bit does not support through-coolant delivery. Inspect the cutting edge and coating for wear or chipping before each use, especially when drilling hardened materials.
