The OSG 8597725 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloys. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, the bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction across a wide range of metal drilling applications. The 7.25 mm diameter cutting edge carries a 120-degree split point with S-thinned web geometry, which reduces thrust force and improves self-centering at the start of each hole. Overall length is 113 mm, with a 69 mm flute length and a straight cylindrical shank measuring 8 mm in diameter. Diameter tolerance is held to +0 to -0.022 mm. This bit is sold individually.
This drill bit is suited for general metalworking and maintenance applications including blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, and through-hole operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The regular-spiral, two-flute design handles chip evacuation efficiently in production and field service environments. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, maintenance mechanics, and trade professionals working with steel structural components or aluminum assemblies will find this bit appropriate for their setups. It belongs to OSG Series 1600, a line positioned for high-performance jobber-length drilling.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting an 8 mm straight shank. Fits applications within the 7.00 mm to 8.00 mm drill bit size range per OSG Series 1600 specifications.
Install in a drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill with a chuck rated for the 8 mm straight shank. Confirm the spindle and workpiece are secure before operation. Always wear appropriate eye and hand protection when drilling metal. For optimal tool life, use a suitable cutting fluid when drilling steel or stainless steel, and clear chips regularly during deep-hole operations.
