The OSG 8595407 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding materials. The 4.07 mm diameter bit features a 120-degree faceted point angle, a web-thinned tapered web configuration, and a regular spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation. At 66 mm overall length with a 22 mm flute length, this stub-length geometry provides added rigidity and stability in screw machine and short-hole drilling operations. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This drill bit is suited for use in CNC screw machines, drill presses, and machining centers where stub-length rigidity is required. It is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter, making it compatible with standard collets and drill chucks sized for that shank. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip clearance in moderate-depth holes typical of screw machine work.
Designed for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses accepting a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or chuck to the recommended grip depth before operation. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear or chipping before each use; a damaged point should not be run in production. Follow the bit manufacturer speed-and-feed guidelines for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature coating failure or tool breakage.
