The OSG 8595404 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in production and shop environments. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, this bit runs a 120-degree faceted point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip clearance. At 0.159 inches (Wire Size 21) in diameter, it is sized for tight-tolerance work in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and aluminum alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank and two-flute spiral design make it compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. Installation and use are handled by machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians.
The OSG 8595404 belongs to the OSG Series 1100 and is intended for use in screw machine operations, production drilling, and general-purpose hole-making in metalworking environments. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio suits short, rigid setups typical of screw machines and drill presses. Workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. This bit fits both manual and CNC drilling applications where short-length, high-rigidity tooling is required.
Designed for use in standard drill presses, screw machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a straight-shank toolholder or drill chuck accepting a 6 mm shank diameter. Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces.
Install and remove drill bits only with the machine powered off and the spindle fully stopped. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet to prevent runout. Inspect the cutting edges and point geometry before use and replace bits showing chipping or dulling to maintain hole tolerance. Follow applicable shop safety practices and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material.
