The OSG 8595366 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in tight-clearance and production environments. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 130-degree faceted point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. At 0.144 inches (wire size No. 27) in diameter, it runs in a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 4.00 millimeters. The overall length is approximately 2.05 inches (52 mm), with a flute length of approximately 0.79 inches (20 mm). It is installed by machinists, tool and die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with drill presses, CNC machines, or hand-held power tools.
The OSG 8595366 is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Its screw machine length body — shorter than a jobber-length bit — provides added rigidity and reduced runout, making it well-suited for close-tolerance work on CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses where shorter stick-out is required. The 2-flute spiral design and 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio support efficient chip clearing in both through-hole and blind-hole applications.
Designed as an OSG Series 1100 screw machine length drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting 4.00 mm shank diameter tooling; suitable for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials.
Install and remove this bit only after the spindle has come to a complete stop and the machine is locked out and tagged out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck to the recommended engagement depth before operating. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material to maximize tool life, noting this bit does not support through-tool coolant. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the point geometry is compromised.
