The OSG 8595287 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and industrial applications. It measures 0.113 inches (Wire Size 33) in diameter with an overall length of approximately 1.89 inches and a flute length of approximately 0.63 inches, converted from metric specifications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it features a 130-degree faceted drill point, web-thinned and tapered web configuration, and a straight-cylindrical shank. The two-flute spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation. This bit is suited for professional machinists and fabricators who need a compact, stub-length tool for tight-clearance drilling operations.
The OSG 8595287 is intended for use in screw machine and production drilling environments where a shorter flute-to-diameter ratio improves rigidity and precision. It is rated for drilling into steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio keeps the bit stable under load, making it a practical choice for CNC machines, turret lathes, automatic screw machines, and similar production equipment. Coolant-through capability is not included in this design.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production drill bit for use in screw machine, CNC, and turret lathe setups requiring a straight-cylindrical shank stub-length bit in the 0.1000 to 0.1500 inch diameter range.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists and toolroom technicians using standard drill chucks or collet systems rated for the 3.00 mm (approximately 0.118 inch) shank diameter. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout before production use to stay within the stated diameter tolerance. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for wear regularly, as high speed steel bits are susceptible to heat damage at elevated spindle speeds without adequate cutting fluid.
