The OSG 8595257 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance metal cutting in production and maintenance environments. It measures 0.1012 inches (2.57 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 1.81 inches (46.00 mm), making it a compact, stub-length tool suited for close-quarter drilling operations. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit operates with a 130-degree faceted point angle for reliable chip ejection and reduced thrust in harder materials. A web-thinned, tapered web design lowers cutting resistance at the point. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die techs, and MRO professionals are the primary users.
This drill bit is designed for drilling into steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine length (stub) configuration reduces deflection and increases rigidity in short drilling applications, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers, manual drill presses, and hand-held power tools where a shorter tool register is required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks. It belongs to the OSG Series 1100 line, which targets high-performance industrial drilling applications.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 3.00 mm (approximately 0.118 inches) shank diameter.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tools. Ensure the drill press, CNC spindle, or hand tool is fully powered down and locked out before loading or changing the bit. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in the chuck to the full depth of the chuck jaws to prevent slippage under load. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material, and use appropriate cutting fluid where required by the material or machine specification.
