The OSG 8595229 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish, it features a 130-degree faceted point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves penetration on harder materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 3.00 millimeters in diameter, and the overall length is 45.00 millimeters (approximately 1.77 inches). With two regular spiral flutes and a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it provides efficient chip evacuation and consistent hole geometry. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance professionals are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is designed for screw machine length applications where a shorter, more rigid profile is needed for improved accuracy and reduced deflection. It is suited for production drilling environments including CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and screw machines. The right-hand cut spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional drilling setups. Coolant-through capability is not included, so external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling ferrous materials at higher feed rates.
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpiece materials. Part of the OSG Series 1100 screw machine drill line.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with proper speeds, feeds, and workholding practices. Secure the shank firmly in a collet, drill chuck, or turret holder before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or external coolant when drilling ferrous materials to manage heat and extend tool life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if damage is observed.
