The OSG 8595184 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced friction in demanding production environments. The 140-degree faceted point provides a self-centering entry that minimizes walking and reduces thrust force. At 1.84 mm in diameter with an overall length of 43 mm (1.6929 inches), this short-body bit suits CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine operations where rigidity and precision are critical. It is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This bit is sized for small-diameter work in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. The screw machine length body — shorter than jobber length — reduces deflection and improves hole location accuracy in close-tolerance production runs. The 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and chucks. The web-thinned, tapered web design lowers cutting resistance and supports a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio for efficient chip evacuation in shallow-to-moderate depth holes.
The OSG 8595184 belongs to OSG Series 1100 and is designed for use in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. It fits any standard collet or drill chuck accepting a 3.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Install and remove drill bits only with the spindle fully stopped and the machine de-energized or locked out per applicable safety procedures. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully and securely in the collet or chuck before operation to prevent runout. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material when drilling steel or stainless steel to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating before each use and replace the bit when wear causes oversized holes or increased thrust.
