The OSG 8595155 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metal and non-ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, this bit features a 140-degree faceted point angle and web-thinned, tapered web construction that reduces thrust and improves penetration at the start of a cut. It measures 0.061 inches (1.55 mm) in diameter with an overall length of approximately 1.65 inches (42 mm), making it well suited for short, rigid setups in screw machines, drill presses, and CNC equipment. Two spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during right-hand cutting operations.
This bit is intended for use in production drilling, machining centers, and automated screw machine applications where a compact, stub-length tool provides added rigidity and reduced deflection. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 3.00 mm (approximately 0.118 inches) diameter fits standard collets and chucks used in production environments. It is sold individually and suits shops requiring precise, small-diameter hole generation in tight-tolerance work.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or production consumable for screw machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the 3.00 mm shank diameter range. Part of the OSG Series 1100 lineup covering the 0.0000 to 0.1000 decimal inch drill bit size range.
Install and remove this bit with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Ensure the collet or chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the straight-cylindrical shank to maintain concentricity. Use cutting fluid or coolant appropriate for the workpiece material to maximize tool life, noting that this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges and point angle for wear or chipping before each production run, as small-diameter bits are susceptible to breakage when used in worn or improperly aligned setups.
