The OSG 8595125 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it measures 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm) in diameter with an overall length of approximately 1.575 inches (40 mm) and a flute length of approximately 0.315 inches (8 mm). The 140-degree faceted point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce entry force and improve centering accuracy. A straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.118-inch (3 mm) diameter ensures consistent chuck retention across standard toolholding setups. This bit is suited for machinists, tool and die makers, and precision fabricators working in production environments.
The OSG 8595125 is engineered for drilling steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate in screw machine and CNC drilling operations. The screw machine length profile provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for short, precise holes in production runs. The 2-flute spiral design with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports efficient chip evacuation in shallow to moderate-depth holes. It is used in manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and screw machines where tight diameter tolerances are required. The diameter tolerance is held to plus 0 to minus 0.0006 inches (plus 0 to minus 0.014 mm), supporting consistent hole quality across multiple parts.
Designed for use in screw machines, CNC drilling centers, and drill presses when machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate workpieces. Part of the OSG Series 1100 high performance drill line.
Installation and operation of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators following applicable shop safety procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a properly sized chuck or collet before operation to prevent runout. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before starting the cut. Do not exceed the bit diameter tolerance envelope when specifying hole fits for precision assemblies.
