The OSG 8594040 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in professional machining, fabrication, and maintenance applications. Built from vanadium high speed steel with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and improved wear resistance compared to standard uncoated HSS drills. It measures 4 mm in diameter with a 75 mm overall length and a 43 mm flute length. The 120-degree split point with X-thinned web reduces walking and decreases thrust force at entry, making it effective for precision work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This drill bit is suited for drilling in steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, aluminum alloy, and aluminum silicate. Typical applications include blind hole drilling, cross hole drilling, through drilling, and self-centering operations. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks on CNC machines, drill presses, and handheld power tools. It is well-suited for use in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments where consistent hole quality in mixed materials is required.
Designed as a direct-fit jobber-length drill bit for use in any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and N covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials.
This bit is installed by a machinist or maintenance technician into a drill press, CNC machining center, or handheld drill with an appropriate chuck or collet. Secure the shank fully before operation and verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits to protect the cutting edge. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit, so apply cutting fluid externally when drilling stainless steel or cast iron to manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the TiCN coating shows significant depletion at the tip.
