The OSG 8556280 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal across a broad range of workpiece materials. Built to Series 8215 specifications, it features a 12 mm cutting diameter, a 1 mm corner radius, and a 26 mm length of cut. The variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonics during aggressive cuts, making this tool suitable for both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. A Duarise PVD coating enhances wear resistance and surface lubricity. Four flutes provide an efficient balance of chip evacuation and cutting edge engagement. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole.
The OSG 8556280 is intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling operations where consistent edge geometry and tight tolerances are required. Its material application range covers steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, placing it in ISO material groups P, M, K, N, S, and H. It is well suited for die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and general precision milling where corner geometry integrity is critical. The straight-cylindrical 12 mm shank mounts directly into standard collet chucks or toolholders.
Designed for use with standard collet-style toolholders accepting a 12 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard material workpieces (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, H).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the cutting edge after clamping before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and compromise corner radius tolerance.
