The OSG 8556130 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 8215 specifications, it features a 6 mm cutting diameter with a 0.3 mm corner radius, a 13 mm length of cut, and a 60 mm overall length. The 4-flute, variable helix geometry promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces chatter during both roughing and finishing passes. A Duarise PVD coating extends tool life when cutting ferrous and hard materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter and accepts standard toolholders. This tool is centercutting and runs in a right-hand cutting direction, making it suitable for plunge entry and complex contour work.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities. It is engineered for material removal across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The variable helix design reduces harmonic vibration, making it well-suited for long-reach cuts and thin-wall features. Machinists and tooling professionals working in job shop, production, and aerospace environments will find this a capable single-end tool for both slotting and profiling operations.
Compatible with standard toolholders accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as noted in OSG Series 8215 application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades corner radius accuracy. Follow the machine manufacturer and OSG cutting data recommendations for feed rate, spindle speed, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
