The OSG 8555920 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. With a 0.4724-inch (12 mm) cutting diameter and 4 flutes, it delivers clean square shoulders and flat-bottom features in a wide range of workpiece materials. The Duarise coating enhances wear resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. Micrograin carbide construction provides edge stability at high feed rates. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working with production milling equipment.
The OSG 8555920 is suited for end milling, slotting, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 26 mm length of cut and 90 mm overall length make it appropriate for standard-depth pocketing and profiling work in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce chatter and harmonics during cut, making it effective in both roughing and semi-finish applications where surface quality matters alongside material removal rate.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-installation solid carbide square end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.4724-inch (12 mm) straight shank. Part of the OSG Series 8205 end mill line.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut.
