The OSG 8549730 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built with four flutes and a 43-degree helix angle, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting performance in a wide range of materials. The 3 mm cutting diameter and 7.5 mm length of cut make it well-suited for tight-tolerance slot milling, profiling, and finishing passes. A DUROREY coating enhances surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. This end mill is center-cutting and runs right-hand with right-hand flute direction, making it compatible with standard vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers.
This end mill is used in precision machining environments including CNC milling centers, die and mold shops, and production machining cells. Its 3 mm diameter suits small-feature work on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 6 mm shank diameter fits standard ER-style collet chucks and shrink-fit toolholders commonly found in CNC setups. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge stability at higher spindle speeds. It is intended for professional machinists and CNC operators working on close-tolerance components where consistent geometry and coating durability are critical.
Designed for use in standard CNC milling machines and machining centers accepting a 6 mm shank diameter toolholder such as ER collet chucks or shrink-fit holders.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle at a complete stop and machine power isolated per shop safety protocols. Ensure the collet or toolholder bore matches the 6 mm shank diameter and that the tool is secured to the manufacturer-recommended pull-out prevention depth. Verify runout after installation before beginning a production cut. Always refer to the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for recommended speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for carbide tooling of this diameter.
