The OSG 8502010 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.0394 inch (1.00 mm) mill diameter and a 0.0984 inch (2.50 mm) length of cut, this is a micro-end mill built for fine-detail work in tight tolerances. The two-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation at small diameters. Micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention needed at this scale. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working with precision components.
The OSG 8502010 is suited for light-material removal passes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites where fine detail and dimensional accuracy are required. At 1.00 mm diameter, it is a micro tooling application — typical in mold making, medical device machining, electronics component work, and aerospace part finishing. The 4.00 mm shank diameter and 40.00 mm overall length are standard for this series and compatible with collet-style tool holders commonly used on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindles.
OSG Series 8120 regular-length square end mills. Designed for use with collet-style tool holders accepting a 4.00 mm shank diameter on CNC machining centers and high-speed spindle systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the 4.00 mm shank in a properly sized collet or tool holder and verify runout before beginning a cut. At micro diameters, excessive overhang or improper collet seating significantly increases the risk of tool breakage — follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for depth of cut and feed rate at this diameter.
